Qashqai vowels in Perso-Arabic script are represented by the letters Alef (ا), Vav (و), and Ye (ی) as long vowel markers, along with the Alef with madda (آ) for the long open A-vowel at word beginnings. Short vowels are generally not written.
This vowel representation follows the standard Perso-Arabic orthographic tradition. The He (ه) is also used as a final vowel marker in some Qashqai word-endings, as in Persian orthography.
Qashqai consonants include the standard Perso-Arabic set plus letters added for Turkic and Persian sounds not in Arabic: پ (pe, p-sound), چ (che, ch-sound), ژ (zhe, zh-sound), and گ (gaf, g-sound).
The Qaf (ق) and Ghain (غ) are important consonants in Qashqai/Ghashghai, representing the uvular q and gh sounds that appear in many Oghuz Turkic words. These sounds are also found in Turkish and Azerbaijani in certain environments.
The Perso-Turkic additions to the Arabic alphabet used in Qashqai: پ (Pe — p-sound), چ (Che — ch-sound), ژ (Zhe — zh-sound), and گ (Gaf — g-sound). These four letters are standard in the Persian writing tradition used for Qashqai in Iran.
Qashqai uses Eastern Arabic numerals (۰–۹) as standard in Iran, alongside the Western Arabic forms (0–9) in digital contexts.
